JOHANNESBURG, August 2021 – An innovative partnership between vehicle tracking company Netstar, a subsidiary of Altron, and popular South African car-sales platform WeBuyCars means buyers of pre-owned vehicles can protect their new vehicles from the moment of purchase.

Since the onset of the pandemic, the surge in demand for affordable vehicles, and the safety and convenience of e-commerce has seen online used-vehicle sales make massive inroads into the South African car market.

WeBuyCars is the leading brand in this space, due to its e-commerce business model and streamlined car buying and selling processes. With the South African economy still in turmoil due to the pandemic and crime at high levels, the need to protect newly purchased vehicles is as high as ever.

To address this, Netstar, pioneer of the vehicle-tracking and stolen-vehicle recovery industry in South Africa, partnered with WeBuyCars in 2018 to provide quick, on-site fitment of tracking devices for clients purchasing vehicles from WeBuyCars.co.za.

“This partnership is significant in that it ensures convenience, peace of mind, and cost-effective vehicle ownership at a time when it is sorely needed,” said Netstar MD Pierre Bruwer. “During the purchase process, a new owner can simply request the vehicle tracking package they require, and a new tracking device will be installed at WeBuyCars’ warehouse”.

Netstar offers tracking and recovery solutions tailored to private vehicle owners, SMEs running small fleets, as well as commercial enterprises operating large fleets. Tracking packages can also be purchased using Netstar’s own e-commerce platform on their website.

“We’re proud to be able to offer WeBuyCars clients the effectiveness of Netstar tracking, with its 90% recovery rate, the convenience of fitment while they wait, and the efficiency of meeting insurance tracking requirements – all on site, while they finalise the paperwork for their new car,” said Janson Ponting, Sales Director at WeBuyCars.

Customers have the peace of mind of knowing that they can shop for a vehicle either online or at the warehouse, make the purchase and have the tracking device fitted in their new vehicle ready for collection.

“E-commerce has become the platform of choice – particularly since the pandemic,” said Bruwer. “WeBuyCars are leaders in this space, and with Netstar products protecting the customers’ vehicles from the moment of purchase, we see this as the new model for safe, cost-effective vehicle ownership.”

“Each WeBuyCars warehouse has an in-house Netstar technician who will ensure that the vehicle is protected when it leaves.” Said Bruwer.
