JOHANNESBURG, February 2022 – In its second year running, the 2022 Netstar Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Hub is now live and registrations are open.
This year, the insurance telematics provider, which is a subsidiary of Altron, has upped the ante with unlimited registrations and a threefold increase in the amount of CPD hours available on their CPD platform. It will enable financial services providers to effortlessly fulfill their CPD requirements by completing online training courses in the specific applications of telematics and vehicle recovery in the financial sector, specifically insurance.
The platform is home to magazine-style articles featuring insights from thought leaders in insurance and telematics. The content has also been diversified to include conversational podcasts where experts discuss entertaining and relevant topics such as “what happens to insurance when self-driving cars take over the roads”, and more. The Insurance Institute of Southern Africa (IISA) ensured that all content is CPD accredited. Thokozile Mahlangu, CEO of the IISA, said CPD is not just a regulatory requirement but provides financial professionals the opportunity to stay sharp in an industry that’s always changing.
“In fulfilling their CPD requirements, financial professionals are equipped to deliver efficient and superior expert service to their clients and keep abreast with what is happening in the industry,” said Mahlangu. “In an increasingly digital landscape, CPD will continue to play a bigger role going forward. Intermediaries that continuously sharpen their skills and stay up to date with these technological developments will reap the benefits. Initiatives such as the Netstar CPD Hub play an important role in this regard” she said.
“Last year’s sponsored registrations were limited to 750 applicants, which were snatched up within days. We decided this year to provide unlimited sponsored seats to give all professionals in the financial services industry a chance to benefit from this CPD initiative,” said Phila Maboa, Senior Manager for Insurance Channels at Netstar. “The overwhelming response we received last year made it clear that there was a need for a continuation of knowledge exchange, especially in a space such as telematics, which continues to be a bit of a grey area for those outside the industry,” Maboa said.
“Our insurance partners play a crucial role in ensuring our clients get the best advice and products, which is another reason we’re throwing our weight behind these kinds of projects,” he noted. Fulfilling CPD requirements is not always straightforward, with time constraints and other daily challenges of running a business, but in working with Five2Nine, a local design and content agency, Netstar has relaunched the CPD platform with a focus on user experience and creating a home where financial professionals can fulfill all their CPD needs.
